Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
It is my profound honor and pleasure to welcome you all to the inaugural Model United Nations conference here at Lane Tech!
This historic conference is meaningful because of the incredible team overseeing it. Over the past few years, the LTMUN team has reorganized into a dominant force in the city unlike ever before. As the team continues to win more awards and attend more conferences, the program has exponentially grown. Throughout our recent seasons, the team has continued to assert their commitment to excellence in leadership, research, writing, and diplomacy. Therefore, it was a natural result of their success that this conference became an absolute necessity.
In addition to the accomplishments of the team, the LTMUN I Secretariat and staff has diligently worked for over a year to create our ideal conference. Throughout the 24-25 school year, summer break, and the entirety of the current academic year, a newfound commitment and dedication to the program has been ignited in all members. Our conference is the culmination of this dedication. What began as a dream that consistently existed just beyond our reach is now a reality in our grasp and we are humbled and excited to share our work with you.
Our committees are designed to facilitate debates on some of the most pressing issues of our time. Each of our 9 committees are built on the foundation of increasingly important issues, and despite many committees being set outside of our present, their topics are nonetheless vital to understanding the current national and global climate. Our wide range of committees include topics from the real world issue of nuclear disarmament and the introduction of superpowered individuals into the United States military. Delegates will have the opportunity to engage in the open exchange of ideas through debate, collaborate through diplomacy, and ultimately work to enact the progress they hope to see in the world.
This conference marks the birth of a new legacy for our team, a new annual tradition for our school, and solidifies our contribution to the Model UN community in Chicago. I am proud to be your LTMUN Secretary General and on behalf of the LTMUN Secretariat, Staff, and Team I am honored to welcome you to LTMUN I!
Dear Esteemed Delegates, Faculty Advisors, and Guests,
This past year, LTMUN has flourished as a team, improving on paper and in spirit. We have made unforgettable memories at our fellow Chicago conferences, which have inspired us year after year, and made us the team we are now. I consider hosting LTMUN I as our chance to return the favor.
We host this conference as not just a space to debate about important topics, stories, and global issues, but to connect on a local level over our shared passions. This is a reflection of our spirit as a team and a school.
When I’m not at MUN, I’m president of Lane’s Mukbang & ASMR Club, picking up splits at the bowling alley, or trying to make this website presentable. Reflecting on my 3rd year as a Lane delegate, I’m beyond proud of what this team has put together, and hope you will share in that pride while competing here at Lane.
I’m incredibly humbled to be a part of the team that wrote this page of Lane Tech history. This conference is a launching pad for our team to reach our next goals, and serve as a model of Lane Tech excellence that will last long after our current team has graduated.
I hope this conference can also be an opportunity for you to grow towards your own visions of change as academics and humanitarians. At Lane Tech, we believe every delegate arrives with a unique story and perspective, and leaves with a stronger voice. LTMUN I is dedicated to that journey, and the Secretariat and I are excited to embark on it with you.
